Open4-time NBA champion makes asinine statement, leaves Jokic and Giannis off superstar list

The NBA is littered with stars, just not superstars.

At least according to former Golden State Warriors general manager, Bob Myers.

Appearing on ESPN’s coverage of the NBA’s slate of Christmas Day games, Meyers made a controversial opinion ahead of LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers showdown against Steph Curry and the Warriors.

He declared that there are only three true superstars in the league today.

Emphasis on the word super.

Myers listed James, Curry and Kevin Durant as the only three superstars that the NBA has.

Stephen A. Smith pushed back on that notion, questioning why Giannis Antetokounmpo and Nikola Jokić weren’t included on the list.

Myers didn’t deny their ability or skill, calling them stars, but noted there are levels to it.

Smith wholeheartedly disagreed, while Myers didn’t budge on his opinion.

Myers is largely responsible for one of the greatest dynasties the sport has ever seen, helping bring four titles to Golden State in an eight year span.

And was a huge factor in getting Durant to come to the Warriors in the summer of 2016.

The man knows what he’s talking about when it comes to the players that make up the Association.

He may just be a bit off here.

Regardless, the NBA definitely has a problem when it comes to finding their next superstar, as the big three of James, Curry and Durant, won’t be around for much longer.

Maybe Myers has a point.

But then again, Antetokounmpo and Jokić have combined for four MVPs, two Finals MVPs, and two championships.

They are undeniable superstars.
