Mark Andrews reveals ‘beast’ Derrick Henry broke his own teammates arm running into him

OpenMark Andrews reveals ‘beast’ Derrick Henry broke his own teammates arm running into him

Mark Andrews thinks he is playing with potentially the greatest running back of all time.

When Derrick Henry joined the Baltimore Ravens from the Tennessee Titans over the offseason, many fans and analysts saw it as the missing piece in their Super Bowl puzzle.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson is in MVP mode with 40 total touchdowns and just four picks.

Teams are so worried about stopping the dual-threat quarterback, that they simply have no answers for the force of nature in the backfield.

The Ravens beat the Pittsburgh Steelers 34-17 on Sunday to go to 10-5 for the season and are genuine Super Bowl contenders.

King Henry took 24 carries for 162 yards, leaving a trail of bodies in his wake.

Andrews appeared on Monday’s edition of The Pat McAfee Show and was asked what it is like blocking for the 6-foot 3-inch, 247 pound colossus.

“If he gets running and you’re in front of him, get out his way,” he replied. “[Ravens tight end] Charlie Koler broke his forearm from getting run into by him.

“He’s been awesome, we gotta keep getting him the rock, he’s a beast.”

Kolar is the Ravens’ third choice tight end behind Andrews and Isiah Likely and plays a key role as a blocker in the run game.

He was injured early in the fourth quarter of the 30-23 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers in late November as he tried to spring Henry.

Incredibly, he finished the game and should return in time for the postseason.

Providing you keep out of his way, Andrews confirmed what many have already said about Henry being the ultimate professional and a brilliant teammate.

“Derrick’s been one of the most incredible teammates,” he added. “Immediately when he gets in to be a Raven, you see how much he really puts into himself and his body and the daily effort to be the best that he can.

“It’s non-stop, every day, doing everything he can to be the best, and he really is.”

Henry has over 11,000 yards and 100 touchdowns on the ground in his career so far.

And Andrews thinks the 30-year-old could be the GOAT.

“It’s an amazing fit,” he said of the offseason acquisition. “He’s one of the best of all time, if not the best.”

Henry became the fifth player in NFL history with four or more seasons of 1,500 rushing yards.

Barry Sanders, Walter Payton, Eric Dickerson, and Edgerrin James complete an elite list.

“You have to bring it every time you play these guys, but we don’t try to make it so much about the rivalry,” Henry said after beating the Steelers.

“We know if we play the way we know how, then we give ourselves a chance against anybody.”

The King is enjoying a phenomenal season but it is another running back fighting quarterbacks Jackson and Josh Allen to be crowned MVP.

Saquon Barkley is on course to become just the ninth man in history to rush for 2,000 yards in a single regular season.

But he may end up sitting if the Philadelphia Eagles wrap up a postseason berth, which would deny him a shot at history.

As Barkley and Henry would no doubt tell you, the Vince Lombardi Trophy is the ultimate goal.
