Travis Kelce and his brother Jason poked fun at the Carolina Panthers as they praised Kansas City Chiefs star Tershawn Wharton for his heroic actions last weekend.
The defensive tackle came to the rescue of a young fan on Sunday, after the back-to-back Super Bowl champions secured a tight 30-27 win at Bank of America Stadium.
As the players made their way off the field, a group of supporters gathered in the stands close to the tunnel.
In footage shared online, one young fan is seen leaning over to try and catch the attention of the passing stars.
The boy then falls head-first through a gap towards the floor.
Thankfully, Wharton was standing below and appeared to catch him, preventing any serious injury.
Other fans were left shocked by the incident, before a member of stadium security urged everyone to return to their seats.
The video quickly went viral on social media, and has been viewed millions of times.
On Wednesday, the Kelce brothers discussed the incident, and while they praised Wharton for his quick thinking, they also took a moment to joke about the Panthers.
“Play of the game from Tershawn Wharton,” Jason said.
“I actually saw this, and I kept on moving, I felt bad after,” Travis responded.
“I was to the left and I was like, ‘Oh s***. You got him Terk? Hell yeah, Terk’s got him’.
“I don’t know who the brainiac was that cut the railing there, what the f*** is the gap for?
“He should f***ing go to school with a neck brace on and sue the Panthers. Get rich quick kid.
“Shoutout to Terk for making sure the little guy was alright.”
As Travis shared his get rich quick scheme, Jason joked that the Panthers are ‘anti-kids’.
Meanwhile, Wharton himself also commented on the incident during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday.
“It was natural reaction, usually when I leave the game I try to throw my gloves in the crowd. And I think I heard my name a bit,” the Chiefs star recalled.
“And when I heard, he was coming down.
“There were two security guards right there, and I don’t think they realised what I was doing. I just had to kind of push him into the stands a bit to make sure he didn’t hit too hard.”
Wharton added that he will reach out to the child to invite him to a future Chiefs game.
