Leeds United vs Luton Town prediction

Leeds United start this game at the top of the table having just taken over from Sunderland and Sheffield United with a win at the weekend.

They are now joint on 32 points with those two teams as well with only goal difference to split the three vying for the automatics.

Leeds have only lost twice this season and look sure to be up there again trying to get back into the Premier League, but they missed out in the last couple of games last season and didn’t go up via the play-offs either, won by Southampton.

Now they have a chance to assert themselves at the top with even more goals scored.

They face a Luton side who were just relegated from the Premier League and had some expectations to do much better than they currently are.

Luton sit down in 16th with just 18 points and as many as eight losses already this season.

They’ve been finding it tough ever since their season opener at home to Burnley where they lost 4-1.

Since then they have shown signs of the potential they have in this league, but have still lost points in games where they really should have won.

That said, they have still suffered some big losses; 3-1 to Plymouth, 3-2 against Coventry and earlier this month losing 5-1 to Middlesbrough.

Leeds United haven’t been entirely convincing this season but still somehow find a way to win when their defence has been below par.

Against Swansea, they looked to have settled for a 3-3 draw, but Wilfried Gnonto stepped up just a minute after the equaliser to win the game in an end-to-end clash on Sunday.

Leeds United vs Luton Town betting tip

Leeds look dangerous heading into this against a Luton team struggling defensively.

But they both have the capacity to concede one too many goals in a single game even if they’ve been dominant.

Luton are a huge price to win, but away from home against the league leaders it’s hard to put money on them.

Instead, it’s looking better value to bet on goals, of which there could be plenty in this clash, given the games listed above.

Junior Firpo would be favoured to be carded but is on his last game of a 3-game suspension following his conduct in their 1-0 loss to Millwall earlier this month.

Leeds haven’t seen many cards in their last few games despite that though and with their leading culprit for bookings out, there could be a bet on the side on the low side of the cards once again.

In fact, they received just one against Millwall, one against QPR three days later and two against Swansea on Sunday.

Elijah Adebayo averages over two fouls per game for Luton and makes a great addition to a bet builder to boost the odds on them to also get the most booking points.
