Open‘Good person’ – Juju Watkins reveals Caitlin Clark’s incredible gesture after signing lucrative NIL deal

Caitlin Clark is making herself available to the next generation of women’s basketball stars.

Juju Watkins has already caught the eye of LeBron James as a 19-year-old USC sophomore.

And Clark has offered her services any time she needs them.

The Indiana Fever phenom won her second Wooden Award – awarded the the most outstanding female college star – in April.

Watkins was a finalist as a freshman and while she did not leave with the trophy, she got something arguably more valuable – Clark’s phone number.

“She made herself available and was like, ‘Whatever you need,’” Watkins told NBC Sports. “I was grateful for her kindness.

“Caitlin is a great player, but she’s also a really good person.”

Watkins is yet to hit Clark up for advice as she looks to forge her own path.

“I’m sure she’s adjusting to the [WNBA], so I don’t want to bother her too much,” she added.

“But yeah, if I ever do really need to, I’ll make sure I reach out.”

The USC sophomore reached 1,000 career points in 38 games – two fewer than all-time NCAA scorer Clark.

Watkins is not able to enter the WNBA Draft until 2027 per the latest collective bargaining agreement.

Watkins has plenty of years to develop her talent

But she has already taken her NIL valuation past $1million after teaming up with Clark at State Farm, who signed a deal with the former Iowa guard last year.

“State Farm is a great brand and Caitlin is a great player,” she said. “So to be able to share that honor with her and be a part of the State Farm family, it means a lot for me.”

Watkins is starring in an original documentary series “On the Rise: JuJu Watkins” on Peacock.

She is the first female college hooper to produce, and star in, her own show.

“It’s just a glimpse into my life, which is something that a lot of people don’t really get to see,” she explained.

“People will see a glimpse inside what women’s basketball looks like and how exciting it is.”

The highlight of the show? Her mother Sari.

“She’s a character,” said the Trojan. “I think the series will really show that and show her off.”

While Watkins appreciates the support of WNBA icon Clark, she is determined to be her own person.

“I would say I just do my best to be myself and play my way,” Watkins told Athlon Sports.

“I don’t really think too much about the comparisons or the pressure, but I would say I just go out there and try to have fun, do what I do and continue to work hard. I think that’s my mentality always.”
