Open‘Tired of losing’ – Giants star offers X-rated verdict after embarrassing defeat to Buccaneers

Major trouble seems to be brewing with the New York Giants.

The Daniel Jones era is over after the quarterback was released last week – less than two years after he signed a $160million contract extension.

In his absence, Tommy DeVito stepped into the starting role on Sunday, but was unable to spark any life into the NFL’s lowest scoring offense.

The Giants were beaten 30-7 by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and their performance at Metlife Stadium was so poor that plenty of fans left before the end of the fourth quarter.

DeVito managed just 189 passing yards, while his opposite number Baker Mayfield threw for an impressive 294 yards.

The Bucs QB also dived into the end zone on a 10-yard scramble for one of Tampa Bay’s four rushing touchdowns, before adding further insult to injury by stealing DeVito’s signature celebration.

New York have now lost six straight games, and at 2-9, have one of the worst records in the NFL in 2024.

They may have a different quarterback, but the same old issues remain.

After an embarrassing defeat to the Buccaneers, Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers cut a frustrated figure in the locker room as he shared an X-rated verdict on where the team are.

“It ain’t the quarterback,” Nabers said when asked to identify the team’s problem.

“Same outcome when we had DJ at quarterback…. Everybody know better than me.”

Nabers, who led the Giants with six catches for 64 yards on Sunday, described the team’s performance as ‘soft as f***’ as he expressed annoyance at only getting targets late in the game.

“I’m tired of going out there and losing,” he added.

“It’s just that. I mean, I don’t know bro. I go out there, first and second quarter, and I don’t get the ball and start getting targets at the end.

“I mean, I can’t do nothing. Start getting the ball at 30-0 — what do you want me to do?”

It’s not just the Giants offense struggling, either.

The Buccaneers scored on five of their first six possessions to race out to a 30-0 lead by the third quarter, steamrolling New York’s defense.

Four different players scored a rushing touchdown for Tampa Bay, while 11 recorded a reception.

It was only Devin Singletary’s one-yard score in the fourth quarter prevented New York from being shut out.

The Giants will not have long to sort out their issues, and travel to AT&T Stadium to face the Dallas Cowboys in a Thanksgiving game on Thursday.
