AC Milan vs Juventus predictions
Only three clubs in Europe’s top five leagues are still protecting an unbeaten record after the November international break.
Two of those, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain, are in strong positions at the summit of the standings in the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 respectively.
The other one, Juventus, are not. Thiago Motta’s men are yet to suffer defeat in Serie A this term. Yet you have to go all the way down to sixth place to find their name in the table.
In fairness to Juve, they are not actually that far adrift of top spot. They have amassed 24 points so far. Napoli, the league leaders, are on 26.
Moreover, it is obvious what the Bianconeri need to do from here: start turning draws into wins. The score has finished level in six of their 12 matches to date, with their other six outings producing a victory.
In terms of points, it would have been better for Juventus to have lost three games and won nine. As it is, they trail not only Napoli but Atalanta, Fiorentina, Inter and Lazio too.
Still, there has been plenty for Juve to be pleased about in the first few months of Thiago Motta’s tenure. Results have been broadly good despite the new manager’s mission to overhaul the team’s style of play.
Previously a reactive, cautious outfit under Max Allegri, Juventus now routinely dominate possession and play on the front foot. Yet there is still room for improvement, especially when it comes to turning control of the ball into clear-cut chances.
AC Milan are one place and six points behind Juventus, albeit having played a game fewer. They do not want to fall too far adrift of the top six, though, so this is an important match for Paulo Fonseca and co.
Milan have had a turbulent start to life under their new manager, whose appointment did not exactly set pulses racing in the red and black half of San Siro.
Fonseca endured some disappointing results early on, leaving him in danger of losing his job in the first few weeks of the campaign. He has steadied the ship since then, but there is still work to be done if Milan are to remain in touch with the top four.

As various teams have found out for themselves, it is not easy to get the better of Thiago Motta’s Juventus.
Although the Bianconeri will be disappointed they have not emerged triumphant more often, going 12 games unbeaten is no mean feat.
It is not as if the fixture list has been overly kind to Juve either. They have already faced the likes of Roma, Napoli, Lazio and Inter, with AC Milan now awaiting on Saturday.

Fonseca’s side beat Real Madrid in the Champions League before the club game broke off for the conclusion of the Nations League group phase. But they have been inconsistent in Serie A, winning only two of their last five league games.
Juventus have continually demonstrated their resilience under Thiago Motta and we expect them to extend their unbeaten run to 13 games this weekend.

As we mentioned earlier, Juventus have shown themselves to be adept at controlling games, but they will still be looking to improve their attacking output going forward.
Of the top seven, only Napoli are averaging fewer goals per game than Juve. If you take last month’s 4-4 draw with Inter out of the equation, Thiago Motta’s men have scored just 17 goals in 11 matches.
On the plus side, Juve have the best defensive record in the division and it will not be easy for AC Milan to break down their backline.
This selection would have paid out in seven of Juventus’ 12 Serie A encounters in 2024/25, as well as in three of Milan’s last four in the league.

Rafael Leao had a tricky start to the season as he struggled to find his best form in an AC Milan shirt.
There are signs that the Portugal international is beginning to turn things around, however.
He shone in Milan’s 3-1 victory over Real Madrid earlier this month, before notching a brace in a 3-3 draw with Cagliari a few days later.
Leao was also on target for Portugal during the international break, so he will arrive into this game with renewed confidence.
